What kind of gated community homes can you find in South Phoenix?
Condos
For the most part there really is only one gated community for condos in the South Phoenix area. The condo community is called the Raven Condominiums and is located at about 35th Street and Baseline Rd. This community does offer a community pool, spa and work out facilities. Overall has great location too, and for folks buying from out of state it is close to airport and to a couple of great golf courses.
Town Homes & Patio Homes
There are some nice gate community homes for town homes and patio homes. I will just go ahead and lump these two together in this scenario. One can find this style of gated communities in South Phoenix in the 85042, 85041 and 85339 zip codes. Amenities do vary by community, but for the most part one could say all have at the very least a community pool and common areas. I will say that over my years in real estate in the area, the Cachet at the legacy have been a crowd favorite. One of the reasons is that it is gated, it has excellent location, is close to airport, and it is located on one of the premier golf courses in the Phoenix area. Not to mention, it is in a way a gated community within a gated community. To top it off, some of the homes have excellent views of the mountains, the city, or the fairways. Nice!!!
Single Family homes
Lastly making up the last segment in my short article, are the single family homes in gated communities in South Phoenix. There are again, several communities that have single family homes, and there are of course some crowd favorites. Let me share some of the favorites, and some of the appeal that people have told me about them:
First gated community is the Fairways at the Legacy.  Actually this was one of the first gated communities to the area, and the popularity has not decreased. It is of course located as its name states in the golf course community of The Legacy. This is a premier golfing destination for many with a top rated golf course.
Quintessa, another neat gated community, and one of my favorites. It is located south of Baseline Rd on 24th street, basically borders the south mountain preserve. There is a trail head area for hiking into the south mountain preserve, and there is some GREAT trails for hiking. This is a neat community as it has nice homes, close to preserve, city views, mountain views and I like some of the floor plans. I especially really like the single story homes with basement, those are worth the look if you’re buying.
Pines at South Mountain is located at about 22nd Street and Baseline Rd, south side of street. This is also an established community, with most homes being built early 2000 and 2001.
Las Colinas is located at 16th Street and Baseline Rd. Most of the homes in this gated community in South Phoenix were built prior to 2004. There are some nice single and also 2 story homes in the community. This community, is one of the few that does not have a community pool, but of course has several green belt areas and some play area.
Talasera is another popular subdivision, and likely because of the great views. This gated community is located in the 85041 zip code, and sits as far south on 19th ave as one can get without being on the preserve. It also borders the preserve, and has next to it another great trail head from which to take hikes. This community also tried to leave a more natural feel in its community, and you’ll notice less pronounced curbs and an attempt to leave the desert in its natural state. This is a nice community.
